About Project Mathtopia
Our Mission and Goals:
To promote the idea that math can be fun through talks, intriguing puzzles, and readings
To help each other engage with mathematics more deeply and/or broadly than we otherwise would on our own
To encourage math appreciation and literacy in the population at large
About Oliver E.
Oliver Eng holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1996) but makes no claim to the title "working mathematician" these days. He strongly believes, however, that with effort, the wonder and beauty of mathematics that mathematicians enjoy can be brought to a wider audience. He self-published a book called Panda and the Hexagon for children. His Erdos number is 3. When AI takes over and puts data engineers out of work, he hopes Project Mathtopia will still be a viable place to spend time contemplating mathematics!
