I am an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington. Before joining UW, I received my Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department at Princeton University. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, with a dual degree in Economics, from Peking University.
My research lies at the intersection of machine learning, data science, computational design science, and economics of information systems. I develop adaptive algorithms and decision-making frameworks, drawing on reinforcement learning, multi-armed bandits, and adaptive experimentation, to address complex challenges in dynamic organizational and societal contexts. My work spans diverse application domains, including healthcare, digital platforms, marketing, recommendation systems, and inventory management, reflecting a highly interdisciplinary approach. A central theme is strategic information use: when time, attention, or data is limited, how do we decide what to learn, and how do we use what we’ve learned to act effectively?
