I am an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington. Before joining UW, I received my Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department at Princeton University. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, with a dual degree in Economics, from Peking University.
My research lies at the intersection of statistics, machine learning, and Economics of Information Systems, bridging both theoretical and empirical work. I explore diverse contexts, including healthcare analytics (spanning online healthcare communities and clinical data), advertising, consumer behaviors, digital platforms, recommendation systems, and inventory management. I am dedicated to solving machine learning challenges to deliver efficient business solutions, and to enhance human-AI collaboration. A central theme is strategic information use: when time, attention, or data is limited, how do we decide what to learn, and how do we use what we’ve learned to act effectively?
