The BLT began as the Biology Education Research Group (BERG) in 2007 by Drs. Alison Crowe and Mary Pat Wenderoth.
That first year (2007) we held quarterly meetings across the academic year.
In 2009 we moved to monthly meetings and in Fall 2010 we started weekly meetings.
In 2019 we changed the name of the group to the Biology Learning and Teaching (BLT) meeting as we changed the goals of the meeting to focus on implementation of evidence-based teaching methods rather than biology education research methods.
The goals of the BLT
Provide a forum to discuss effective teaching methods
Create a network of faculty, grad students & post-docs across the UW tri-campuses & greater Seattle region to facilitate collaborations & exchange ideas and provide support.
