Lenin was one of the most prolific and revolutionary thinkers of the Russian Revolution. He was one of the masterminds of the Bolshevik takeover as well as the first leader of the newly formed USSR.
The Bolsheviks were a part of the Marxist Russian Social Democratic Labor Party, until they split forming the Communist Party. They started the October Revolution which led to the formation of the USSR and the Bolsheviks rise to power.
Leon Trotsky was another prominent marxist leader in the Russian Revolution. He was the leader of the Red Army and was a advocate for a "international working class" Revolution.
The Tsars played a large part in the formation of the Russian Revolution, Nicholas II's mistreatment of the people only added to the spirit of revolution. While the Tsars may have been in power at the beginning of the Revolution, by the end the Tsar and his family where executed.
