Watercolor

Since coming to UW, one of the biggest personal lessons I have learned is the importance of slowing down and making space for creativity outside of academics and career goals. It can be easy to get caught up in constantly working, studying, and focusing only on productivity, especially within competitive academic environments. Over time, however, I realized how important it was for me to intentionally prioritize hobbies and activities that allowed me to step away from that constant pressure and reconnect with myself outside of school and medicine.

Watercolor painting became one of those spaces for me. I enjoy the calmness and unpredictability of watercolor, where not everything can be perfectly controlled and small imperfections often become part of the final piece. Painting allows me to slow down, focus on the present moment, and appreciate creativity without worrying about achievement or outcomes. More than just a hobby, it has become a reminder that balance, reflection, and creativity are just as important to personal growth as academic and professional success.
