The idea of art journaling is to relax your mind from the tension and stress you might be dealing with. Art journaling is a visual diary where you can keep your emotions, ideas and experiences through a mixture of writing, drawing, painting, and other art techniques. Art journaling is a self-expression and visually interesting work where a "story" or "theme" is not needed. But if you do want to have a "story" or "theme", that is your choice. What matters is the creative and the relaxation we get from doing this. Scrapbooking or Junk Journaling are also similar to art journaling with a couple tweaks.

Gather all materials.
Take a magazine and cut out things that interesting you or think are pretty. (if you don't have stickers don't worry, these magazine cut outs work just like stickers.)
Take the journal of you choice and open it to an empty page.
(If you don't think you want to do it in a journal you can also just do it on a paper and store it in a plastic sleeve.)
Create a background using any materials you want (you can use watercolors, acrylic, oil pastels, etc. or even use color or patterned paper).
(if you want you don't even have to create a background).
Add Stickers, Magazine cutout and Photos all over the page
Add some sort of writing that you think belongs on the page (you can write a paragraph or just a couple of words).
(if you don't want writing you can just add stickers, magazine cutout and photos and end it there)
Lastly write the date on the page and wrap it up (if you want).
* Art Journaling is an idea that can help you to relax and bring your creativity out. You can do art journaling in anyway, the instructions are more like guidelines for beginners.
