As a community, we have young people dying left and right because of drug use and alcohol. It has gotten to the point where its become normalized to go to at least one funeral a year for people under 30. In the article, "I don't consider marijuana a drug" it references youth around the age of 14 - 21 years old. These youth in Australia believe that using cannabis is not a drug and don't understand the effects of it. It is commonly used for stress and undiagnosed mental health but we should not be turning to drugs and alcohol for coping mechanisms. I wrote up this worksheet to help reflect on why you use substances or alcohol to calm stress or mental health. This can be a starting place for finding help and understand where and why you started using. Lets not hide behind drugs or alcohol as a community anymore, lets get help when we need it so we can live the best life we are meant to have.
This worksheet will help you reflect on your whole life. It has you think back to what life was like as a child because some of us were interpreting for our parents or were taking care of our siblings and the house. This is a great tool for when you may want to seek therapy or feel like you dont know if you should or not. I ask you to challenge yourself and fill this out with complete honesty and no judgement. If you feel like you do want to see a mental health professional, you can bring this along and this can be where you start.
