Gender Dysphoria Worksheets

The resource I developed consists of two worksheets that aim to assist counselors working with transgender clients experiencing gender dysphoria. The first worksheet, "Reflecting on Your Dysphoria", focuses on helping clients identify and explore the sources of their discomfort related to their gender dysphoria. The questions will allow clients to reflect on their feelings, experiences, and triggers. Additionally, a body mapping exercise is included to encourage clients to identify a part of their body related to their dysphoria and reframe their perspective by stating something positive about it. This process promotes self-acceptance and a shift in mindset.
The second worksheet, "Exploring Your Dysphoria", includes questions that guide clients to explore gender-affirming options, both medical and non-medical. These questions will encourage clients to consider different ways to address gender dysphoria and what actions may be taken to alleviate some distress. These worksheets are designed to foster self-awareness, empowerment, and provide a structured way for clients to think about their gender identity, affirming practices, and the steps they may wish to take in their journey.
This resource will help counselors understand that gender dysphoria is different for everyone, especially for people from different cultural backgrounds. Counselors can use exercises like body mapping and open-ended questions to learn more about each client's needs. The resource encourages counselors to respect each client’s pace, whether they want to explore non-medical ways to affirm their gender or consider medical options.
By using this resource, counselors can help clients reflect on their gender dysphoria, feel more comfortable with themselves, and think about different ways to affirm their gender. It will help counselors have better conversations about gender identity and coping strategies while respecting each client's unique experience. This approach will ultimately support clients in feeling better and improving their mental health.
