Coming up: Stay tuned for our next volunteering event in Fall 2025 by joining the ME-IDEA slack channel! Location and time will be updated in early Fall.
To build community and help support inclusivity, diversity, equity, and accessibility work in the greater Seattle area, ME-IDEA holds a Volunteer with ME-IDEA Day once per quarter. As of March 2024, ME-IDEA has held 7 volunteer day events at Marra Farm, Low Income Housing Institute, Yes Farm, K-12 outreach, and Food Bank. Join ME-IDEA if you're interested in volunteering alongside us.
Select a day that works best for you and reach out to one of the organizations below about volunteering individually or with a group of friends:
University District Food Bank: "Our mission is to build a hunger-free Northeast Seattle by providing our neighbors with reliable access to healthy food and life-changing resources."
Solid Ground (Marra Farm): "Solid Ground works to end poverty and undo racism and other oppressions that are root causes of poverty. Solid Ground’s Communit Food Education program, one of many community partners who steward the land, operates a Giving Garden that does education work while growing food for the community."
Low Income Housing Institute: "LIHI develops, owns and operates housing for the benefit of low-income, homeless and formerly homeless people in Washington State; advocates for just housing policies at the local and national levels; and administers a range of supportive service programs to assist those we serve in maintaining stable housing and increasing their self-sufficiency. "
Food Lifeline: Food Lifeline’s mission is to feed people experiencing hunger today while working to end hunger for tomorrow. Poverty is the primary root cause of hunger, and we recognize systemic racism, wealth inequity, and social injustice as leading drivers of poverty and food insecurity.
Northwest Harvest: "Northwest Harvest is committed to operating as an anti-racist, anti-oppression organization. We are unflinching in our work to transform an unjust food system into one that is more responsive and accountable to the communities most impacted by discrimination."
Atlantic Street Center: "Atlantic Street Center’s mission is to support families and communities with raising healthy, successful children and youth through direct services and advocacy for social justice and equity. We primarily serve no- and low-income African American families and other families of color who reside in the Greater Seattle area, specifically South King County and North Pierce County."
Life Long: "We remove barriers to health with relentless compassion so that no one faces illness and injustice alone. "
Full Life: "Full Life is working toward a future where adults with serious illnesses or disabilities can be supported in the community rather than living in isolation or needing to resort to institutional care."
