Running the Game - ONLINE VERSION

Welcome players to the game for a minute or two until everyone is assembled. 

Ask players if they’ve played a physical or virtual escape room before.

Introduce yourself and have the players introduce themselves to one another.

If there are a lot of players for multiple teams you may want to skip this and instead let players introduce themselves when they are in breakout rooms.

Once everyone is ready, describe your role as a game host and provide the following instructions: 

• Web browser: Please use Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. Safari currently does not support our videos.

• Audio/Video: This is a collaborative game. Teams will need to work together, so microphones should be on at all times.

• Screen sharing: One player will share their screen throughout the event. This allows all players to see and talk about the same things in the puzzles. Other players may want to have the escape room up on their computer as well to interact with the puzzles.

• The game is designed to be challenging, but you, as the game host, will be available to provide hints when necessary. 

• Pointers: Click on the phone message at the beginning of each puzzle to receive instructions. All passwords are real words, and they are not case sensitive 

When there are many breakout rooms and only one or two hosts, you can ask participants to use the “Ask For Help” option in the Zoom menu bar to ping the host if they need help.

Ask if there are any questions. Once you have answered any questions, read out the mission statement: 

📥 Mission Statement:

For years, a supplement called “Euphorigen” has been used by the very wealthy to boost brain activity and productivity. Now the government wants to make the benefits of Euphorigen available to everyone by introducing it into the public water supply. The company that makes Euphorigen claims to have completed successful trials, and an announcement of the deal is expected shortly. However, your investigator friend has suspicions and has heard that a prominent scientist has recorded a statement on whether or not the company’s claims are to be believed. She has asked you to help find and share that information with the public! Track down whatever information you can on Euphorigen to uncover the truth and spread the word! 

If 1 team (4-6 players), say:

"OK, I am going to give you one minute to decide who will be the screen sharer. Then I will send you the password in chat. When you share your screen, in the bottom left corner, there will be a check box that says, “Share Sound.” Check that box before sharing. "

If you have more than 1 team, say:

"OK, I am going to send you into breakout rooms. You will have one minute to decide who will be the screen sharer. Then I will share the link in chat."
