Avoid eating any crab, shellfish, or fish (with the exception of salmon) from the Lower Duwamish Waterway.
Observe young children to ensure they are not ingesting the water. Wash their hands, toys, and pacifiers after swimming.
If going to the beach, wash your hands and face with soap afterwards, especially before eating.
Avoid bringing contaminants home; wash soiled clothing separately.
Stay in public use areas.
If swimming in the river, keep in mind there are combined sewer overflows that can spill waste water into the waterway after heavy rain. Wait at least 48 hours after heavy rain to swim.
