Dr. Dong Si is a researcher, mentor, and educator in Computational Science. He is the director of the Data Analysis & Intelligent Systems (DAIS) group and also an eScience (Data Science) institute-affiliated professor at the University of Washington. Over the years, Dr. Si’s research has included artificial intelligence, computational data science, and biomedical and health informatics.
Dr. Si’s work has been published and highlighted in PNAS, Nature, Nature Methods, Nature Computational Science, WIREs, BIB, eLife, and other venues. People around the world have adopted the software products of his research. Dr. Si has secured funding from federal & state government agencies and industry partners. He has served as editor and committee member for many international journals and conferences. Dr. Si is an advocate of community engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion. He is interested in promoting the early engagement of diverse students (especially women and underrepresented students) in artificial intelligence, computational data science, and biomedical and health informatics fields by introducing interdisciplinary studies and inspiring students to pursue advanced STEM education and research careers.
