Homeomorphisms are crucial from the point of topology (and it is usually during a course in topology that one learns of their existence), whereas derivative of any kind is fundamental in analysis. That is why studying homeomorphisms with some derivative is, in a sense, building a bridge between these two important branches of mathematics, as portrayed on the picture below.
