Middle school brings exciting new classes, projects, and activities, along with a big boost in personal responsibility! To support our students as they build strong executive function and organizational skills, Pomolita is excited to utilize the Middle School Student Planner across all grade levels this year.
A planner is more than a list of assignments, it's an "external hard drive" for a middle schooler's brain! Learning to track daily tasks, manage study time, and plan ahead reduces academic stress and sets students up for lifelong success.
To make planner use consistent and easy, every classroom features a Classroom Wall Chart that mirrors the layout in student planners:
The Daily Mirror: At the start of each period, teachers post assignments on the Wall Chart, and students record them directly into their planners.
The "No Blank Boxes" Rule: If no homework is assigned, students write "No Homework", ensuring zero confusion when reviewing tasks later.
Daily Wrap-Up: Teachers reserve time at the end of class to add planner entries before students pack up.
You play a crucial role in building this habit! We encourage families to spend 2 minutes each evening reviewing the planner together:
Open & Review: Have your student show you their planner spread for the week.
Check Off Tasks: Celebrate completed assignments together!
Focus on the Habit: Consistency is key—praise the routine of writing in the planner daily.
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students take ownership of their learning journey this year!
Have questions about our planner routine? Feel free to reach out to your child's counselor or third period teacher.
