Submission guidelines
Submission Guidelines
Two types of submissions are needed: proposal and research paper. Both of them must be written in English and in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) format with all fonts embedded and be formatted according to the format template.
Research proposal. As a first step a research proposal has to be made, and get accepted by the supervisor. Proposals must clearly identify the overall topic and context, the problem statement, related work, proposed methodology, expected results, and planning. Research proposals should not be longer than 3 pages (excluding references), addressing all relevant aspects. Submissions will be reviewed for clarity, feasibility, relevance, and completeness. Here are two proposal examples from former students proposal 1 and proposal 2.
There will be no centralized organization of proposal submissions. Every student needs to directly send the proposal to the corresponding supervisor. Depending on the quality, there could be one review round or multi-rounds, but the deadline to get a go is before the end of W2. The earlier the student gets a go, the earlier he/she can move to the next step, i.e., performing research. If the decision is a no go by the supervisor, the proposal will be further double checked by the track chair. Only the students whose proposals get accepted can continue with this module.
Research paper. Papers must be tailored to the problems of Information Technology and fit into one of the tracks. The submissions should not be previously published and not currently under review by another conference or journal. Original papers with at most 8 single-spaced A4 pages (excluding references and appendices) are solicited. Submissions will be reviewed for clarity, novelty, relevance, and quality. You will find many examples @Past editions -> Previous events -> TScIT xx->@Programme and proceedings.
Paper submission must be performed through the conference site at EasyChair. There are two rounds: draft and final paper submission. For the draft paper, you will get feedbacks from your peer student and your supervisor. Upon that, you need to improve your work and submit the final version. The Accept/Reject decision will be made based on the final paper. Only the students whose final paper get accepted can present his/her work in the conference. You also have a chance to revise some critical issues after receiving the feedback of your final paper and upload the camera ready version to Easychair if needed, which will not be reviewed. The last version of your paper will be accessible by the public through this website @ Programme and proceedings. Note that, papers that do not meet size and formatting requirements will not be reviewed and submission is only possible for students from the University of Twente.
