Mohd Foad Abdul Hamid received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1990 from University of Arizona, USA. A few years later, he went to further his study at same university and received a Master of Science degree specializing in Reliability Engineering and Probabilistic Design in 1995. Not satisfied with a master's degree, he pursued a doctorate degree at State University of New York at Buffalo in Computational Mechanics. While doing his doctoral research, he enrolled in a master's program at the same university. He earned another Master of Science in 2007 and soon after that, he received a PhD in the same field in 2008.
