I pursued my PhD at the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications, University of New South Wales in 2007. My PhD topic was related to the development of new acoustic sensing systems using optical fibre as the sensing elements. Part of research work also focused on implementation of optical sensor in composite failure monitoring.
I attended a one-year industrial training at Jurutera Budiman Sdn. Bhd., a mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering consultant firm from 2017 to 2018. I was appointed as an electrical consultant engineer to consult projects which involved the use of low voltage (LV) and extra low voltage (ELV). In a typical case, my responsibility as a consultant engineer started from the tender process until the delivery of vacant possession. One of the projects which I fully participated in was the outdoor CCTV system at Desaru Coast. In this project, outdoor cameras were installed along the Desaru Beach utilising optical fibre for data transfer.
I went to Harbin Engineering University in 2019 as a senior visiting researcher. I was responsible for several tasks including conducting research in the area of optical fibre sensor, supervising a PhD student and giving lectures in the area of optical fibre sensor. Most of the focus was targeted on my research work in development of novel multicore fiber sensor. I received a research fund under the International Young Scientists scheme from the National Natural Science Foundation of China which amounted to RMB200,000 for the project.
