Food insecurity is an invisible challenge many in our UTCVM face on a regular basis. For any individual, this could mean a long-term situation, or a temporary struggle; all circumstances are valid. To help our students and other CVM personnel who are currently experiencing food insecurity at any level, we've designed a food bank program. For those in need, we trust you will find time to visit the Munch Box and find food items that appeal to you.
For Those in Need:
Please stop by the Munch Box, B301, for food items you may be interested in (3rd floor, near the elevator). For your convenience, plastic bags are located in the labeled cabinet. Food items will be available in the Munch Box area 24/7 until the supply runs out.
The Food Bank is periodically re-stocked by the Office of Academic and Student Affairs thanks to generous funds provided by a grateful client, Lori Stienbarger.
For Those Donating:
Please consider donating non-perishable and/or frozen (individual and microwavable) items to this cause.
Examples of non-perishable food items include canned soups/stews, canned fruit, canned meat, rice, peanut butter, pasta (Mac ‘n’ Cheese). Please be sure these items haven’t passed their “use-by” date.
These items may be placed in the Munch Box area, B301, on the 3rd floor near the elevator and classroom A335. Dedicated cabinet space and the ice cream freezer will be labeled “UTCVM Food Bank” for food drop-off.
Thank you to all who have contributed thus far! The UTCVM Food Bank will continue to accept appropriate food items until further notice.
Monetary donations for the UTCVM to purchase food may be made by directly contacting either Kayela (kstatom@utk.edu) or Alicia (arobino@utk.edu).
