Charles Hughes (Aug. 2022 - Oct. 2022)
Charles graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2015 and entered UT in August 2015. His thesis research is focused on measurements of fragmentation functions in Pb-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV/nucleon using the ALICE detector. He is also a major contributor to the ALICE BTU upgrade project through his work on assembly and testing of ALICE TPU Inner Read Out Chambers. He is currently a post doc at Iowa State.
Antonio Silva (Aug. 2019 - Aug. 2022)
Antonio Silva joined the RHIP group in August 2019 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Received his Ph.D. in 2017 from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is an alumnus of the Science Without Borders and the Research Internship Abroad fellowship programs, having spent one year at the CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland, and two years at the Utrecht University, in The Netherlands. At UTK he worked on the measurement of D0-jets in heavy-ion collisions in ALICE, as well as the implementation of heavy ion analyses in Rivet in ALICE and at RHIC. He is currently a post doc at Iowa State.
Adam Matyja (Aug. 2016 - Dec. 2017)
Adam was involved in the gain calibration of the ALICE Time Projection Chamber (TPC) with the radioactive krypton, time calibration of the ALICE EMCal as well as photon, meson and jet studies within ALICE. Adam was the EMCal photon analysis group convener while at UTK. Currently (Aug 2022) a research assistant professor at Cracow (IJF Pan).
Abhisek Sen (2013 - 2015)
Postdoctoral Research Associate. Abhisek received his Ph.D. in 2012 from Georgia State University and was part of RHIP from 2013 to 2015. His thesis was on beam energy dependence of J/ψ production at forward rapidities in PHENIX. In our group he focused on data analysis from the PHENIX muon arms and forward vertex detector (FVTX), in particular J/ψ, ψ' and single-muon measurements in asymmetric systems, and on $b\barb$ in p+p collisions. Currently (Aug 2022) he works as a AI/ML Lead at JP Morgan Chase & Co.
Natasha Sharma (2014 - 2016)
Postdoctoral Research Associate. Natasha received her Ph.D. in 2012 from Panjab University, Chandigarh (India). She has worked in the RHIP group since 2014. Her thesis work was on light (anti) nuclei identification and contributed to the first observation of the anti-alpha by the ALICE Experiment.In our group she has continued work on nuclei production as well as on studies of jet-hadron correlations and transverse energy in ALICE. Currently (Aug 2022) she has a position as Assistant Professor at the Physics Department, IISER Berhampur, Odisha, India
Josh Hamblen (2006 - 2009)
Josh worked on the ALICE experiment in support of the ALICE EMCal. Currently (Aug 2022) he is a UC Foundation Associate Professor and Associate Department Head at University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
Youngil Kwon (2004 - 2006)
He is particular interested in issues related to open charm production at RHIC energies. Current position: Professor at Yonsei University in Korea.
Vasily Jorjadze (2002 - 2004)
Responsible for the RHIP group's onsite activities at the PHENIX MuID detector at RHIC. Currently he is Chief Executive Officer at IM Technologies , LLC in Upton, NC
Laurence Villatte (2001 - 2002)
Staff position in the French Nuclear Industry. Commissioning of MuId detector. Analysis of first data from Muon Arm detector in PHENIX. Currently (AUG 2022) working on R&D in the nuclear fuel cycle company Orano Cycle in France.
George Gogiberidze (2001 - 2002)
Senior Imaging Scientist at CurveBeam. Commissioning of MuId detector. Responsible for PHENIX on-site activities. Currently (Aug 2022) Senior Imaging Scientist at Eigen in Pennsylvania
Kyle Pope (1997 - 2000)
Design and implementation of the off-line computing system for the PHENIX experiment and development of analysis algorithms for the muon arm system within this experiment. Currently (Aug 2022) he works as an IT specialist in the Knoxville School System.
Mark Pollack (1997 - 1998)
Design and implementation of the off-line computing system for the PHENIX experiment with special emphasis on data retrieval. Currently (Aug 2022) he is Senior Staff Engineer at VMware in New York.
Victor Perevotchikov (1995 - 1998)
Design and implementation of the off-line computing system for the PHENIX experiment. Currently Research Scientist with STAR at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
David Morrison (1994 - 1997)
Analysis and operation of hadronic calorimeter data from the WA98 collaboration at CERN, and design and implementation of the PHENIX off-line computing system. Currently (Aug 2022) Staff Scientist with PHENIX at Brookhaven National Laboratory.

Alex Aukerman (2020 - 2021, MS)
Alex did his masters thesis on calculations of transverse energy in small systems using published data.
Will Witt (2015 - 2021, MS)
Will graduated in Physics from Auburn University in 2015 and entered UT in August 2015. Hefocused on studies of azimuthal anisotropy of jets in Pb-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV/nucleon using the ALICE detector. He was also a major contributor to the ALICE BTU upgrade project through his work on assembly and testing of ALICE TPU Inner Read Out Chambers. He is a data science consultant at ABS Group.
Andrew Castro (2012 - 2019, PhD)
Andy graduated from Cal Poly in 2011, entered UTK in August 2012 and joined our group in 2013. His thesis was on studies full jets in p+p collisions at 8 TeV. He was also a major contributor to the ALICE BTU upgrade project through his work on assembly and testing of ALICE TPU Inner Read Out Chambers. He is a Research Scientist at Leidos in Houston, TX
Kyle Schmoll (2010 - 2017, PhD)
Kyle's doctoral research was on single muon production at forward rapidities in Cu+Au in PHENIX. Currently (Aug 2022) Software Engineer at Uptycs , Inc. Boston, MA.
Joel Mazer (2010 - 2016, PhD)
Joel's doctoral thesis was on the reaction plane dependence of medium modications to jets using jet-hadron correlations in ALICE. Currently a post-doc at Rutgers University.
Biswas Sharma (2017 - 2018, MS)
Biswas's thesis research was on an analysis of the data produced by the STAR Beam Energy Scan program to study the scaling of the resulting transverse energy with collision energy and with the number of participating nucleons. Currently (Aug 2022) Senior Data Scientist at Merck Global Data Science in New York.
Irakli Garishvili (2003 - 2009, PhD)
Thesis: "Open heavy flavor measurement at forward angles for Cu+Cu collisions at center of mass NN collision energy 200 GeV." Current Position: Staff member in the Global Nuclear Security Technology Division at at Oak Ridge National Lab.
