Sweets, Candies and More, Inc. (SCM) is a fast-growing manufacturer of sweets and candies in the fictional country of Neverlandia. You have recently joined the company’s finance department and were assigned to a team that works on a 10-year financial forecast for capital raising. You were given a task to summarize SCM’s revenues and expenses down to EBITDA for 2022 and to forecast them for the next 10 years. Then your colleagues will add the remaining parts to the financial model.
In this preliminary round, teams were given 55 minutes in a classroom environment to make as much progress as possible on the case.
Some notes from Dim:
This has the usual caveats of my live attempts: (i) I'm rushing, so not always explaining myself very clearly (it will be easier to understand if you try the questions first), and (ii) I sometimes (OK, often) make mistakes or don't follow the optimal path. That said, this is the fastest I've ever finished a FMWC round by a wide margin, so I obviously didn't waste too much time!
The Down to EBITDA attempt begins around the 34-minute mark of the video. Enjoy!

AgroWizards Inc. is a fictional company in a fictional universe. They operate a magic field that is able to produce fruits and vegetables – tomatoes, grapes, apples, etc. (we will call them “units” throughout the case). The field size is 100x100 cells in Excel. The map of the field is provided in the financial model. Your goal is to make calculations based on the location of the units on the field and to answer the questions for the case.

In Levels 5 through 8, you will score individual tosses (throws of a bean bag), rounds, and entire games. Go get some sliders, watch out for hangers, and good luck!
In this final round, students were given 30 minutes in a livestreamed eSports environment to make as much progress as possible on the case.
