The Neonatology Division at McGovern Medical School has been affiliated with Hermann Hospital in providing care for newborns with complex medical and surgical problems since 1970. The NPM fellowship program was one of the first fellowship programs established in the Department of Pediatrics.

The Neonatology Division had a strong representation at the 2026 Southern Society for Pediatric Research (SSPR)
Fellowship training includes opportunities to participate in the Pediatric Academic Societies (PAS) Meeting, where fellows present research, showcase scholarly work, and engage with colleagues and mentors from leading pediatric institutions across the country.
