ECO 394K is a master's level course intended to provide a rigorous introduction to the methods of microeconomic theory, including consumer and producer theory, decision-making under uncertainty, markets and competition, and general equilibrium. While the emphasis is on the theoretical foundations, we consider applications to empirical work by discussing journal articles across various applied micro fields like public finance, labor, and environmental economics.
ECO 304K provides an introduction to key principles, concepts, and issues in microeconomics. The course is designed to help students develop an analytical way of thinking about economic questions. Beginning in 2015, this course was offered in a synchronous online format, in which students rotated their attendance between online and in-person in the recording studio, allowing for in-class experiments, practice problem-solving, and other ways of interacting.
