The volcano plots display enrichment data for the three families. This analysis compared the frequency of each residue in the 8A radius and compared it to the frequency in the family dataset. PA shows the most enrichment signal, likely because of the large data set. CYS and GLY are the most enriched overall, and charged residues are excluded efrom the active site. In SB, residues like HIS, ALA, MET and SER are enriched, with HIS being the most notable, Lastly, in SC, TRP is noticably enriched, statistically validating the sequence data. Overall, this data quantifies the shared enrichment of HIS and Ser across all families, and displays the depletion of charged residues that would interfere with the active site.
