Brianna McBride is a two-time Longhorn, earning a bachelor's in Communication & Leadership and Government, and her Master’s of Public Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.
As a student, she played a fundamental role in creating and innovating recruitment, retention, and success programs for underrepresented students at UT Austin and the LBJ School. Some of her projects include piloting the Intro to Black UT Admissions program, the co-authoring of Making Black Lives Matter: Confronting Anti-Black Racism, and serving as the Barbara Jordan National Forum Co-Chair. At the LBJ School, her policy work focused on educational equity, particularly in Higher Education, and addressing barriers to college access through policy-based solutions. Most recently, as her policy research project, she worked as a consultant for Dallas College’s Workforce Scholars Program, providing strategic planning for their youth apprenticeship program to ensure program sustainability.
Brianna has never shied away from a tough challenge and believes in the power of mentorship and community. She has been awarded the Heman Marion Sweatt Student Legacy Award, the Texas Exes President’s Leadership Award, and recently the inaugural Brianna McBride Gavel of Student Leadership Award.
Brianna is pursuing her own independent consulting practice focused on making a positive change to help college campuses become more diverse and welcoming. In her free time, Brianna loves to watch movies, hang out with her friends, and mentor young Black students. She is the proud daughter of two Houston natives and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
