Language Arts 11 Essential Standards

Essential Standards (ESs) are the skills and objectives we plan on mastering during this course.

Reading:

1) I will cite textual evidence to support my ideas about what I've read (what was actually said and what I inferred). 

2) I will determine what words and phrases mean based on how they are used in the text.

3) I will read and comprehend stories, dramas, and poems by the end of the year.

4) I will determine two or more main ideas in a text.

Writing:

1) I will support my ideas (claims) by citing relevant evidence, credible sources, and by showing that I understand the texts I am citing.

2) I will produce clear writing that is appropriate for my assigned task, purpose, and audience. 

3) I will be able to conduct research to answer a question.  I will be able to create relevant questions to guide my research.

4) I will gather information from multiple sources and be able to determine if the information is credible or not.
