Focus on Essential Standards

On many of my assignments, you will see the letters "ES".  This is an acronym for the term Essential Standards.  These letters basically mean that we as teachers are for sure going to teach these basic skills and we will work with you, the student, to make sure you master these "ES" essential skills.  Every teacher in Utah Online School has Essential Standards that they have decided on together and that they are committed to teaching and intervening on, or going back to teach again.  

These are the Essential Standards for the Utah Online School LA 12 English Team.

At the end of our class, every student should be able to say:

1. I can read, comprehend, and analyze grade-level literary and informational text.

2. I can write for any task, audience, and purpose.

3. I can participate in civil discussions.

4. I can present information in an interesting and logical way.

5. I can use appropriate language in my writing and speaking.
