Essential Standards

Essential Standards are the most important topics of each student's learning in Language Arts and Math. Teachers have looked at the curriculum for each grade level and chosen those topics that are vital to master before moving on to the next grade level and then tied assessments to those standards. If a student masters each of these at 80% or above, we count them ready to move to the next grade level. If they score below 80%, we make plans to intervene with students either one on one or in a small group setting until the skill is mastered. In Language Arts you will notice we are using the Acadience test to test those GVCs this year and we have an entire system set up for small group instruction for those students who don't succeed.  Watch the video below to learn more, or click on each GVC character to see what the GVC Is for your student based on their grade level!
