Understanding United States history is essential for the continuation of our democratic society. This course will help students make connections between their world and the rich heritage of United States history. The course is designed as a survey of American history with an emphasis on post-Reconstruction America (1876-Present).

There is no final exam in this course, but there are projects in each semester as outlined below:
Semester I:
Growth of the US Podcast: You will be creating a podcast interview with 3 characters from the 1800s. It is found at the end of the Growth of the US Unit
Modern Muckraker Project- You will be exposing an issue in society today using similar tactics of the Muckrakers in the early 1900s. Then creating an original solution for the issue. It is found in the Muckraker lesson in the Reform and Progressivism Unit
Semester II:
Civil Rights Comparative Essay: You will be working through a writing workshop that compares the Civil Rights Movement with a movement of your choice.
