Essential Standards
Essential Standards: While all the material in this course is important to your future math experience, the following material will be emphasized to best prepare you for success.
CFA stands for Common Formative Assessment. This refers to the test that is used to help evaluate your understanding of each ES.
Secondary Math 2 Essential Standards:
I can perform operations with exponential equations and analyze their graphs. (Semester 1)
I can define the meaning of rational exponents.
I can find the value of k given the graphs.
I can identify the shifts in a graph using the equations.
CFA - Exponents and Radicals
I can solve Quadratic Equations with rational solutions. (Semester 1)
I can factor a quadratic expression to reveal the zeros of the function it defines.
I can complete the square to find the maximum or minimum of the graph.
I can use the Quadratic Formula to find the critical points of a quadratic function.
CFA - Solving Quadratic Equations with Rational Solutions
I can apply the properties of similarity to triangles and use trigonometric ratios. (Semester 2)
I can use congruence and similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems and to prove relationships in geometric figures
I can define and use trigonometric ratios in acute angles of right triangles.
I can use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles in applied problems.
CFA - Triangle Similarity and Trigonometric Ratios
I can identify and describe relationships among inscribed angles, radii, and chords. (Semester 2)
I can use circle relationships to find the measures of central, inscribed, and circumscribed angles of a circle.
I can use circle relationships to show that the measure of the inscribed angle on a diameter is a right angle.
I can use circle relationships to show that the radius of a circle is perpendicular to a tangent line where the radius intersects the circle.
