We will be providing 5 field trip options included with registration. Field trips will be held on Wednesday, May 15. Transportation to and from the field trip location as well as sack lunches will be provided.
Hiking in the Wasatch Mountains:
Spend a morning exploring the Wasatch Range! Multiple vehicles will be available for participant transport so there will be a number of trail options. We will post a list of hiking options as we get closer to the event and trail conditions are known.
Wildlife Viewing:
Wildlife viewing opportunities abound in the Midway area. Join UDWR wildlife biologists looking for moose, mountain goats, or bighorn sheep. Learn about research being conducted by UDWR to better manage the wildlife of the Wasatch range.
Sage Grouse Lek:
Take an early morning trip to Strawberry Valley for an opportunity to see a sage grouse lek. Learn about some of the long-term sage grouse monitoring and research that has happened in this area. Successful predator control, habitat restoration, translocations and data collection have helped drastically improve sage grouse population success.
Fishing at Strawberry Reservoir:
Limited to 12 participants. We have reserved two chartered boats to take a limited number of participants fishing on Strawberry Reservoir. The reservoir is known for producing large cutthroat and rainbow trout and is one of the best kokanee salmon fisheries in Utah. Reserve your spot before they’re gone!
Fly Fishing on the Provo River:
Limited to 12 participants, must bring your own fly fishing equipment. Join UDWR fisheries biologists for a day of fly fishing on the Provo River, one of Utah’s Blue Ribbon Fisheries. Spend a day chasing brown trout, mountain whitefish, and rainbow trout.
