Utah’s pioneering and innovative spirit thrives within UDOT as a unique Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) is utilized on select, large-scale construction projects. Only a few other state DOTs use this forward-thinking risk management approach, making Utah a trailblazer in this field.

This program provides unified insurance coverage for UDOT and contractors under a single insurance program. By centralizing insurance, we streamline risk management, enhance safety coordination across all contractors, and achieve cost efficiencies, which ultimately benefit the public and infrastructure projects.
