Transportation Education Program (TEP)

The purpose of the Transportation Education Program (TEP) is to prepare Transportation Technicians for working in maintenance and construction activities. TEP training increases a Transportation Technician's skills and abilities required for working at UDOT.

Trans Tech I's and II's will gain knowledge and acquire skills through online courses and On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities. Additionally, Trans Tech II's will be required to do instructor-led courses that will enhance their communication skills and improve their office skills.

Trans Tech III's will prepare for supervisory roles by attending our UDOT Leadership Development workshop. There will also be opportunities to expand your skill set and professional growth through additional courses. As a Trans Tech III you will select a specialty track of training.

Region Peer Review Board

Upon completion of all training and OJT for each level, candidates will be required to pass a Region Peer Review Board. For more information on the Peer Review Board specific to your region, contact your Region Trainer.

Transportation Technician Academy

All new transportation technicians are required to attend one session of the Transportation Technician Academy, which is held twice each year in the Spring and Fall. The academy lasts for two weeks and covers many of the major activities in maintenance and construction.
