On Thursday, November 3, from 0900-1100, the Psychiatry interest group experienced hands-on art therapy through mask-making with Adrienne Stamper and Melissa Walker at NICoE Art Therapy Studio.
On Tuesday, October 11 at 1100, Care4PTSD researchers provided a tour on how they utilize Microsoft Hololens 2 and augmented reality for their PTSD treatment study at NICoE. Students were harnessed into the CAREN and were guided through how PTSD therapy is carried out.
On June 13, 2022, Dr. Anne Germain hosted a panel about Insomnia. She is an expert in clinical sleep research and behavioral sleep medicine. She applied her knowledge to create a mobile app, NOCTEM Health, with the sole purpose of overcoming barriers to delivery and access to evidence-based behavioral sleep.
On Friday, April 15, 2022 at 1530, we had our first movie night. Our movie was "Patch Adams", and we discussed about a various s&s of different mental disorders that were portrayed in the movie with Dr. Teisberg.
Monday, June 13, 2022, at 1130. Dr. Anne Germain is an expert in clinical sleep research and behavioral sleep medicine. She will speak at our upcoming meeting and share her insights on insomnia, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), and her journey of creating a mobile app.
The Psych IG will be partnering with Spectrum for a virtual Gender Identity talk from Dr. Eric Meyer. We thought this topic fits perfectly with our Repro/Endo module and will be an introduction to this topic. The meeting will be virtual on Google Hangouts on September 9 at 1200.
The Operational Medicine and Psychiatry Interest Groups invite you to join MAJ Adam Hunzeker on Wednesday, 6 May at 1200-1300 to discuss psychiatric management in operational settings. MAJ Hunzeker is a psychiatrist who is currently deployed in Afghanistan. He will discuss current mental health issues that American service members downrange are facing, sharing valuable experience relevant to all specialties. The Family Medicine and Psychiatry Interest Groups invite you to join a panel on Tuesday, 21 April at 1200-1300 to discuss psychiatric management in operational settings. We have some awesome panelists from both Family Medicine and Psychiatry to talk about their experiences treating mental illness among operational military personnel.

We are very excited to make history and hold our first ever Google Hangout Psych IG panel on Friday April 10 at 1200. We will discuss the differences between neurology, psychiatry, and psychology with an excellent panel of experts including Dr. Thomas Bayuk for neurology, Dr. Ryan Landoll for psychology, and Dr. Shannon Ford for psychiatry.

Stronger tells the story of Jeff Bauman, who lost both of his legs in the bombing of the Boston Marathon, through his physical and emotional recovery. After the movie showing, our faculty advisor Dr. Meyer will lead a discussion about the movie. Food will be provided, and all are welcome!
