Dr. Seigfred V. Prado has a rich academic journey, commencing with his attainment of a Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (B.Sc. ECE) degree from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, Philippines, in 2011. He furthered his academic pursuits with a Master of Science in Electronic Engineering degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) in Kowloon, Hong Kong, in 2015. In 2018, he earned a Master of Research in Neurotechnology degree, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in Bioengineering (Ph.D. BioEng; with a specialization in Neurotechnology) in 2024 from Imperial College London in England, United Kingdom. During his doctoral tenure at Imperial, Seigfred completed a distinguished research internship at Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, in collaboration with the Massachusetts General Hospital.
Beyond his academic achievements, Dr. Prado is a licensed Electronics Engineer and holds active memberships in various prestigious professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), where he is an elected Senior Member, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the Society for Neuroscience (SfN), the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS), the British Neuroscience Association (BNA), the Organization for Computational Neurosciences (OCNS), the Association of Biomedical Engineers, the International Society for Optics and Photonics, Asia-Pacific Chemical, Biological and Environmental Engineering Society (APCBEES), and the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP). He is also an Associate Member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP). Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Prado has been invited as a plenary speaker at numerous international conferences and has contributed significantly to high-impact ISI/SCOPUS-indexed journals. His dedication to both teaching and research has garnered him multiple awards.
Dr. Prado's research interests lie at the interface of signal and image processing, machine learning and artificial intelligence, biomedical photonics, neuroscience, and neurotechnology. More precisely, he desires to investigate within the topics of neural information processing and rehabilitation of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.
Currently, Dr. Prado serves as the Executive Assistant and Strategic Development Specialist for UST Santa Rosa, the Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship facility of the University of Santo Tomas. Additionally, he holds the position of Chair of the Faculty of Engineering Research Ethics Committee, demonstrating his commitment to upholding ethical standards in research and innovation.

A former BRAIN Lab undergraduate alumnus and magna-cum-laude Electronics Engineering graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, he previously earned the prestigious BPI‑DOST Project of the Year Award & “Best in Innovation” recognition for his EEG-based brain-computer typing interface, a work aimed at restoring communication to locked-in syndrome patients.
