New Hires at the CUNY University Student Senate

Jamell Henderson
The University Student Senate (USS), which is the student governance body representing over 500,000 students in the City University of New York, is pleased to announce the welcome of Mr. Jamell Henderson as the new Legislative Director.
Mr. Henderson was formally introduced himself at the monthly plenary meeting that took place at John Jay College on Sunday, January 29th by the USS Chairwoman, Salimatou Doumbouya. Mr. Henderson is a proud 4-time graduate of the City University of New York, receiving degrees from BMCC, Brooklyn, Baruch and the CUNY Graduate Center all while being a NYCHA resident.
Mr. Henderson is currently at the College of Staten Island in the Ed.D Community-Based Leadership program where he is on track to graduate in May of 2024. Jamell has an extensive resume of advocacy, organizing and leadership, as he is also the NYC Regional Board Chair of Citizen Action of NY. Mr. Henderson has served in various roles in being a stand for the students of the City University of New York and his 19 years of being a student, student leader, and adjunct professor made it a great choice to help the organization go to the next level of leadership and advocacy for student leaders.
Daniel Flores
Daniel Flores is a driven and dedicated young leader who has been appointed on December 12th 2022, as the executive director of the University Student Senate (USS) of the City University of New York (CUNY), making him the youngest ever to hold this position. His passion for politics started at a young age, leading him to his first internship with the New York State Senate in high school.
Since then, he has gained valuable experience in various capacities, including director of community relations for a New York State Assembly member, advisor for political campaigns, and vice chair of legislative affairs for the Baruch Undergraduate Student Government. He recently earned his degree from Baruch College, and is eager to put his skills and knowledge to use as he serves the USS.
Flores is grateful for the support he has received from his faith, family, and community, which he credits for his success. In his free time, he enjoys watching soccer games and grabbing a beer. With his experience and dedication, Daniel Flores is poised to make a positive impact as the executive director of the USS at CUNY.
