Title I is a federally funded program designed to provide resources to schools and districts to ensure all children have a fair, equitable, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and close educational achievement gaps.
How Title I works at Union Star.
Students who qualify for Title I services at Union Star will receive additional instructional time, outside their regular classroom instruction, in reading and math to assist and further their development in those areas. Through this program we are able to offer the students and parents the best opportunities for additional help and growth at school. Qualifying students will receive an additional 20 minutes of small group or individual instruction in the area(s) in which they qualify. To monitor the growth and development of students receiving Title I services, a progress report will be sent home twice each school year, after all benchmark testing data has been compiled.
Who will qualify for Title I?
Union Star School District determines students qualification based on district and state assessment scores from standardized tests. Scores from their AIMSweb, iReady, and MAP assessments, as well as their previous grades in the areas of reading and math, and teacher referrals are all used to determine students' eligibility.
