The Japanese community of Kamikatsu has elevated its dedication to sustainability. Kamikatsu exceeds its neighbors with an outstanding 80 percent recycling rate, compared to the rest of the country's approximately 20 percent. The community implemented the Zero Waste Declaration with the goal of becoming totally waste-free by 2020 after learning about the risks of carbon monoxide caused by burning trash.
