CHAPMAN NASP ARCHERY

2017-2018

EXPECTATIONS, GUIDELINES & REGULATIONS

To maintain our Equipment, Targets etc. we will be charging a $35.00 participation fee per Archer to be involved in our program for the 2017-2018 school year. Checks need to be made out to Chapman Middle School. This fee is due by October 15, 2017 or before. The check and signed Participation sheet must be returned to Mr. Fewin. (Preferably prior to you practicing, if at all possible) Practices begin the week of October 2, 2017

Academics- School is number one, No exceptions!!! We will have weekly ELIGIBILITY requirements!! If you have an “F” in any class the week before and or the week of a competition. You will not go to Competition. We will also use the KSHSAA ELIGIBILITY RULE as addition to our weekly checks, if a student doesn’t pass 5 classes each semester they will be ineligible for Archery for the next semester/18 weeks.

Practices- Practice is held prior to school at 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. We will hold opportunities 4 days a week. Students will be assigned 2 practice days a week. Students are expected to attend 2 days a week. They can attend more if they desire. Students who do not attend 80% of their assigned Practice times will not be entered into Tournaments. You will be dropped from the Program for failing to practice and there will be no refunds of your $35 or of any entry fees you may have paid for. (High School Students will not leave Practice Prior to 7:30 a.m.!!! High School Classes don’t start until 8:18 a.m. If you can’t get there in 48 minutes--you have a Big Problem!!) 7th Grade students who are enrolled in the Archery Class at CMS are the only ones who are exempt from morning practice for that semester. They shoot everyday in class. Some 7th graders take this class both semesters. They are welcome to attend morning practices if they wish. Students should be practicing at home as well if they have their own bow. Practices will begin the week of October 2, 2017.

Behavior- Students will be Suspended & or Removed for Any Behavior or Actions that is deemed detrimental to our Archery Program and puts the student Not in Good Standing.

Archers and Parents are expected to be involved with Fundraisers, Concession Stands, Hosting Tournaments etc. We are currently hosting 2 Tournaments and that could change. We need everyone’s help!!

Archers are responsible for paying their own entry fees. Most Tournaments are $16 to $20 with the exception of Nationals, which is more. If you commit to a tournament and are entered and you don’t attend, your entry fee is not refunded. Once you have been entered I have to pay for your fee’s. Practically all entries are done on-line & I have to enter you. If you are going to attend a different tournament then the bulk of team is going to, you must tell me, so I can do the entering.

Archers must participate in 3 qualifying tournaments in order to compete in the NASP State Tournament. Participating in 3 Qualifying Tournaments and the State Tournament is the only way a student can qualify for the National Team-provided we qualify as a team or individually. All of the qualifying Tournaments are all Target Tournaments.

Team Size- An NASP Team has to have a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 24 members. At the Middle School Level there is no limit to the number of Teams we can take to a competition. This year we might have a chance to field an Elementary Team. We will only take the top 24 High School Students who meet the criteria of membership to our program. We only need 12, but will keep 24 provided they meet the Expectations, Guidelines and Regulations of The Chapman NASP Archery Program. Home of the 2 time Defending Middle School State Champions and the Defending High School State Champions, as well as the State HS Individual and Middle School Individual State Champion and the Overall State Champion.

All students regardless of Division, (Elementary, Middle School, High School) all shoot the Genesis Original Bow. There are no Exceptions! I can sell you a standard colored New Bow at a reduced rate and I think I can get the arrows now also. They must be Easton Genesis 1820’s. I can also advise you concerning bow cases.

Transportation: In the past the School has helped by providing bus transportation to local area tournaments. We hope that happens, if not we will have to car pool. That has worked also. If transportation is provided, students will ride with us to the event. Students may be signed out at the event and return home with a parent.

We will continue to wear our Shooting Jersey’s. I plan on ordering in the Fall (one time) and in the Spring (one time). We have new Sponsors to add to the back of our Jersey and a few to remove. More Details to come about that in the near future.

We hope you plan on committing to the Best NASP Archery Program in the State of Kansas. We hope to continue to Grow & Improve, Beat Clearwater and take the Next Step In our Program. That is to shoot over 3300 consistently as a team, so we are competitive at a NATIONAL LEVEL. WE ARE VERY CLOSE!!!

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thanks so much for your interest in our program. We look forward to another year of great improvement.

There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday September 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapman Middle School Commons area.

Thanks again for all you do to have helped us be the “BEST NASP ARCHERY PROGRAM IN THE STATE OF KANSAS”

Very Sincerely,

Mr. Andy Fewin
