Spelling words will go home at the end of the week and will be tested at the end of the following week. This will give your students at least a week to study their spelling words. The spelling words are decodable from sounds we’ve learned plus one tricky word to practice. Please have your child practice sounding out the words rather than memorizing. Knowing the rules and using the sounds will help them apply sound spellings to a variety of words. For example, learning ‘a_e’ can help spell bake, cake, rake, make, etc.
*No spelling test this week!*
Remember to log your child’s reading minutes on Beanstack and participate in the monthly reading challenges for prizes! QR Code is located at the back of your child's homework folder.
What counts for reading? EVERYTHING! :)
*5 min of tricky word practice
*10 min playing memory with short words
*7 min of letter sound cards/building words
*15 min taking turns reading a bedtime story
Meet the teacher had many suggestions to practice reading skills, but there will also be 'Take-Home' pages, story chapters, and extra practice pages sent home regularly that would be great practice to reinforce what we are learning in the classroom AND count as reading!
Month 7, Week 3: Cooperation - Be Kind
We will discussing how to Cooperate with others to achieve a common goal.
Review Week
We will review what we've learned so far this year and continue to practice adding within 120.
No quiz this week!
We will continue Unit 6 next week by reviewing two-syllable words and spellings: 'g' (/g/ and /j/) and 'c' (/k/ and /s/). We will introduce pronouns, prepositions, and adjectives. We will continue reading the decodable book: Grace. Some of these chapters will be sent home every few days. Please review the chapters with your child and log them on Beanstack :)
