2026 Tryouts information has been updated!
The Washburn Rural North volleyball program is designed to allow the coaches to work with athletes at their appropriate skill level, thus providing an opportunity for athletes to be successful. The volleyball program will consist of two interscholastic teams (A and B) for each grade level.
Coaches look for many qualities during the tryout period: coachability, attitude, teamwork, hustle, as well as fundamental volleyball skills such as ball control, overhand serving, etc.
PARENT NIGHT:
Join us for WRN Fall Sports Parent Night on August 5th at 6:00 PM. General middle school sports and volleyball specific information will be discussed. *If you are unable to attend parent night, HERE is the handout we will be passing out!
*PLEASE NOTE- Physical packets for all fall sports are due to the WRN office before tryouts! Students will not be able to participate in tryouts if it is not completed and turned in before August 18th. The documents needed are found HERE on the WRN website under "Participation".
2026-27 TRYOUTS:
We want to see all of our athletes on the first day of tryouts! Then, to reduce the number of athletes in the gym at one time, we will hold tryouts in two groups according to the athlete’s last name. This will allow coaches to get a better look at each athlete during the assessment period. Both 7th & 8th Grade will have a preliminary selection of athletes and then a final selection of teams.
Tryouts will be closed to all parents/spectators. Please wait outside for your athlete!
Follow the schedule below according to your grade level & LAST name. At ALL try-out practices, wear the following attire: t-shirt with last name on the back in 3-inch-high letters (black sharpie on the shirt or on tape is fine), athletic shorts, tennis shoes, bring a water bottle with your name clearly marked, and remove all jewelry.
