The Washburn Rural Middle School volleyball program is designed to allow the coaches to work with all athletes at their appropriate skill level, thus providing an opportunity for all athletes to participate and be successful. The volleyball program will consist of two interscholastic teams (A and B) for each grade level. An intramural program will also be available for girls not selected for the interscholastic team. Coaches look for many qualities during the tryout period: coachability, attitude, teamwork, hustle, as well as fundamental volleyball skills such as ball control, overhand serving, etc.
PARENT NIGHT:
Join us for WRMS Fall Sports Parent Night on Thursday, August 7! General middle school sports and volleyball specific information will be discussed. *If you were unable to attend parent night, HERE is the handout.
*PLEASE NOTE- Physical packets for all fall sports are due to the WRMS office before tryouts starts! The due date is Thursday, August 14. Students will not be able to participate in tryouts if it is not turned in before that date. See the documents needed linked HERE on the WRMS website under "Participation".
2025-26 TRYOUTS:
In order to reduce the number of athletes in the gym at one time, we will hold tryouts in two groups according to the athlete’s last name. This will allow coaches to get a better look at each athlete during the assessment period. Both 7th & 8th Grade will have a preliminary selection of athletes and then a final selection of teams.
Tryouts will be closed to all parents/spectators.
Please follow the schedule below according to your grade level & LAST name. At ALL try-out practices, wear the following attire: t-shirt with last name on the back in 3-inch-high letters (black sharpie on the shirt or on tape is fine), athletic shorts, tennis shoes, bring a water bottle with your name clearly marked, and remove all jewelry.
