👀Class Information👀

I am a very reasonable person, but I also expect my students to put forth their best effort and develop good habits for high school. Here are a few things you might want to know:

Weighted Grades: 70% Tests and Projects, 30% Assignments (Building Policy)
Missing Work: No penalty ( I don't give out that much work, so I need you to do EVERY assignment I give); accepted through the end of quarter. It is in your best interest (especially in math) to not let missing work go past a week. Unfortunately, if work is not turned in, it results in a 0, which can really hurt your grade.
Redo Work: You may redo any assignment that you score below a 85%. I will give you full points back for all of your corrections.
Quiz Corrections: I always prefer that you redo assignments and ask for help BEFORE we take a quiz. If you score below an 85%, you may fill out a "2nd Chance Quiz Corrections" green sheet and attach it to your quiz or test. If completed correctly, I will give you a half point for every point you corrected, but you cannot score higher than an 85%.
Extra Practice: Each Weekly Lesson Overview colorful PDF that is posted in Google Classroom has extra videos and online or paper practice you can do for the topics for that week. These are perfect when you "have nothing to do" in Advisory.
Extra Help: You are ALWAYS welcome to come see me during advisory to get extra help on an assignment. Sometimes a quick email response is all you need. I check my email frequently and will do my best to respond as soon as I am able. Get the help on daily assignments as you need it; don't wait until after you take a test and realize you had no clue. You can't really fake it in math!
Advanced Class Reminder: IM1 is a full grade level above Math 8. If you are not maintaining an A or B, we will consider moving to Math 8 which might be a better fit. Math is not a race!!! You will receive the credit of a prerequisite once you pass IM2 at the high school, but you will NOT receive actual high school credit. Please see more information about how taking IM1 as an 8th grader will impact your future high school courses.

Kahn Academy - You can search for any topic and find videos, practice, quizzes, etc. AWESOME resource. They will be a mix of Algebra 1 and Geometry topics.

Virtual Nerd Video - These are the "NEAT" videos that we watch in class.

CK-12 Interactive Math - This is a PHENOMENAL resource for 8th grade instruction and practice. Scroll down to find the topics. You may have to find some things in the Algebra 1 and Geometry section since we do Integrated Math.
Math Caching - These are fun exercises that cover lots of topics. Find the answers and follow the clues.

Pre-Algebra Practice - This is sorted by topic. Worksheets and activities.

Desmos - Try to create some pictures like we did at Christmas. Use the constraints on the domain and range, and graphing inequalities to shade things in. Share your picture in Google Classroom! There is also a great calculator here.

Daily Routines - Here are some great thinking activities that aren't directly tied to specific standards.

Kobe Bryant Math - Lots of interesting data here with links to more sports stuff.

Hooda Math - Lots of math-related games to help reinforce skills. This link takes you to high school - some may be more than IM1. :)
