ARRIVAL: EATING BREAKFAST OR ARRIVING BEFORE 7:50 am.
The gym doors (W2) open at 7:20 am. There is no supervision before 7:20 am.
Do not drop kids off before 7:20 am.
Breakfast is served from 7:20 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.
Students who do not eat breakfast and arrive before 7:50 will wait in the hallway to be dismissed to classrooms.
Students being dropped off at W2 should be dropped off on the east side of the street. Parents need to drive around the block so that students can exit out on the school side and not cross the street.
ARRIVAL: 7:50 to 8:00 and NOT Eating Breakfast. (Tardy Bell Rings at 8:00)
The following doors are staffed. Choose a door closest to your student's classroom.
W3 (main office entrance)
S1 (south side of the building)
E1 (east playground)
W2 (the gym door for 6th graders and kids needing to drop off a sack lunch)
ARRIVAL: AFTER 8:00 am.
Drop off at W3 (main office entrance)
Staff will be there until 8:05. After that, students will need to use the button to be let in.
Tardy bell rings at 8:00 am.
Students arriving after the tardy bell will be counted tardy and need to stop outside the office to choose their lunch choice get a slip to give the classroom teacher.
ABSENCES
Parents/Guardians are to notify the school office before 8:30 a.m. when their child is not going to be at school.

Dismissal Procedures
Currently all students are dismissed out of the E1 playground door.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade students need to be picked up by the parent. Teachers establish a procedure for students to let them know when they see their parent so students can go to their parent.
3rd through 6th grade students are dismissed as a group.
Please establish an after school plan for your student.
Students who are waiting on parents to pick them up must stay on the playground until their ride arrives.
TRAFFIC PROCEDURES
USD 428 and the Great Bend Police Department would like to inform you of safety procedures to be used when dropping off or picking up students from Riley Elementary.
In accordance with Kansas Standard Traffic Ordinances, students and parents need to be using crosswalks to get across the street.
Drivers are not permitted to stop in the middle of the street for pick up/drop off.
Drivers must be parked only in legal areas.
Drivers are not permitted to stop, stand, or park on streets where the curb is yellow or blocking any private driveway.
All other traffic ordinances will be enforced by law enforcement including: speeding (the speed limit is 20 miles per hour from 7:30am to 8:00am and 3:00pm to 3:30pm), U-turns, failure to use signals, illegal stopping, illegal parking, impeding traffic, jaywalking, etc.
Traffic tends to be congested during arrival and dismissal times. In order to ensure the safety of our students, please be aware of your surroundings!
