The Kansas Association for Youth is a character-building, leadership-training, service organization directed by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. The local organization is under the direction of the high school principal, who, in turn appoints a sponsor(s) to lead and to guide the club program. KAY is a nationally acclaimed organization which provides students an opportunity to learn to assume their citizenship responsibilities and to enrich their personalities through well-organized programs, projects and parties. Programs educate, inspire and direct members into carefully planned service projects. These projects emphasize four areas of service—school, community, nation and world. Recreation can also be incorporated into service projects. Club parties are a means to celebrate accomplishments, as well as afford opportunities for recruitment and enjoyment. School administrators use many phases of the club program for group-guidance activities. For more information: http://www.kshsaa.org/public/kay/main.cfm
Trick-or-treat for Unicef
We get together and go out in the community to get donations for Unicef. Unicef helps disadvantaged children. We dress up in costumes for fun and have hot chocolate and cookies at the end.
All-Star Basketball
Students vs. Teachers basketball game where we collect canned goods for the food bank. It is a massive amount of fun to come watch or maybe play.
Mr. Perfect Panther
This is a fun twist on beauty pageants. We get a few senior guys to compete in a pageant for Mr. Perfect Panther. All the proceeds go to a deserving family in our community that is in financial need. It is a lot of fun.
Service Projects
Throughout the year there are many service projects you can join in and help with. You need to participate in three of them to be eligible to go to Hollyball.
Hollyball
This is our Sadie Hawkins Dance where the girls ask the boys to a dance. It is a reward for all the hard work you do.
