Parent Educators and Coordinator

Daltyn Nave

Parent Educator

Hello! My name is Daltyn Nave. I am the newest parent educator for Parents as Teachers. I grew up in Sterling with my twin sister, two older sisters, & older brother. I met my wonderful husband, Dakota, in 2017. He is the one that brought me to Lyons. We got married & bought a home here in Lyons in 2020. I am a first-time coach, 2022-2023 will be my first year as LHS head cheer coach. My husband also coaches (many sports 😊) so we are always on the go & involved in our community’s youth! We look forward to someday raising a family in this community!

I am so excited for this new role to help empower & support families in Lyons & Sterling. Working with children has always been something I love & I can’t wait to build relationships with the families I serve. I look forward to helping families with any resource connections families may need, whether it’s for a child(ren) or parent/caregiver. I also look forward to watching families strengthen their relationships & raise successful, respectful, & brilliant children in our community. Parents as Teachers affiliates with several local organizations to ensure parents/caregivers & children get resources for a variety of reasons.  I have firsthand seen the effects of post-partum depression/anxiety & know how crucial of a time that is for parents to have support. I strive to encourage, empower, strengthen & love every family that I serve to help them succeed.

Laura Reyes

Parent Educator

Hi! My name is Laura and I a mom of 4 boys. I was born and raised in Monterrey, NL, Mexico. We moved to Lyons in 2006 and love it.

I worked as a home visitor for 4 years and recently started working for the Parents as Teacher program. I love to work with families in their home and be able to help them to connect with any resources available in our community or close to us. I feel like when you do home visits, you get to know more about the families, and you build a close relationship with these families.

I am working with the Hispanic families to share the tools available for their children to develop the skills they will need to reach their full potential.

¡Hola!

Kari Troyer

PAT Coordinator and Parent Educator

Hi! My name is Kari Troyer and I am a Parent Educator (Home Visitor) and Coordinator for Rice County Parents as Teachers. My relationship with Parents as Teachers began when my husband and I enrolled in the program soon after the birth of our first daughter. We found it to be a very valuable source of parenting support and a way to meet other parents of young children.

I have been working with Parents as Teachers and USD 405 since 2001.  I have been a Parent Educator since 2013 and Coordinator since 2022. Parents as Teachers empowers parents and strengthens families by highlighting their strengths and providing research-based information on child development and family well-being. I love being able to celebrate with families when things are going well and supporting them when there is a struggle. It is so important for parents to recognize themselves as their child’s first and best teachers. Our program  endeavors to help families connect with the school system, other local resources, and each other. The goal is to let them know they are never alone on their parenting journey and we believe it strengthens the whole community.

My husband and I have called Lyons home since 1994. We have raised 3 children here. We like to make memories by taking regular family vacations, often to Montana where my husband and I both grew up. We enjoy doing things that involve being out in nature, such as hiking and camping. My personal hobbies include acrylic painting and  enjoying spooky books, podcasts and movies.
