About me

I have been teaching at Andover Middle School since 1997. I started my teaching career in 1992 with the Derby school district. I received my bachelor's degree in education from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 1991 and then obtained my master's degree in curriculum and instruction, with a focus on middle school science, from Wichita State University in 1997.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy concerts, sporting events, the theater, playing tennis, going on walks, and spending time with my wife of 36 years, Laurie, and our Morkie, Thor.  I am the dad to two great kids. My daughter, Bethany, is 28 and living in Arkansas and my son, John (Jay) IV is 22 and lives outside Astoria, Oregon (where they filmed The Goonies!!!).
