Some important highlights from JAG-K this past year is that Blair Holliday is our president here at Holcomb, but she is also the Region 1 president and the Vice President of JAG-K for the state. Blair also made it in the top 10 nationally for the Project-Based Learning Event in our Career Development Conference. She took first at state in May of 2020 and then was a finalist in the virtual national competition in December of 2020. Ariana Jimenez also has done some amazing things this year. She qualified for the national competition last May 2020 in Employability Skills and competed in the national virtual competition in December of 2020. She not only qualified for the finals, but she went on to become the national champion of Employability Skills. This includes filling out a job application, presenting a resume, cover letter, and participating in a mock job interview. Ariana is continuing her success in that event this year so far too. She placed first in our regional competition in March 2021 and is a finalist for the state competition.
We continue to focus on making a plan for after high school in JAG and are dedicated to serving others, especially through our pantry that is housed in the high school. Some of the main events besides the career development competitions we participated in were the leadership development conference held at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson, Region 1 Day at Barton County Community College, JAG-K Day at the Capitol in Topeka, and our annual Garden City Community College Cosmetology visit.
