FIRST MEET
Our talented forensics students had a fantastic start to the season on Saturday, advancing 5 out of 8 events into finals. Here's a breakdown of the exceptional individual achievements:
Katelynn Hintz showcased her brilliance in an Informative speech about video game use, securing an impressive 3rd place. Her quick thinking landed a commendable 6th place in Impromptu speaking as well!
Kendall Brungardt's Extemporaneous entry earned 5th place and she earned a remarkable 3rd place in Poetry.
Sara See delivered a captivating Program of Oral Interpretation on selections highlighting Ballet, securing a notable 5th place.
REGIONALS
On Saturday we hosted and competed in a Regional Forensics Competition. We had several students participate and they all did very well! Students are rated on their own performance instead of ranked against the other students in their rooms from on a 1-4 scale with 1 being the highest. A 1 rating will qualify them for the the State Festival Tournament. Our results are as follows:
1 Ratings: Kendall Brungardt Extemp and Poetry
Brianna Magana Prose and Poetry
Sara See POI and Impromptu Speaking
Clara Burchell Poetry and Impromptu Speaking
2 Ratings: Kynadee Ramsey and Denee Donovan Duet Acting
Katelynn Hintz Impromptu Speaking
3 Rating: Katelynn Hintz Extemp
Throughout the season we have also had students qualify for the State Championship tournament by placing either 1st or 2nd in a regular season tournament. These students are:
Kendall Brungardt: Extemp and Poetry
Brianna Magana: Prose
Sara See: Impromptu Speaking
Katelynn Hintz: Informative Speaking
They have done an outstanding job this season! When you see them, wish them luck at the state competition on May 4th.
STATE
Last Saturday members of the HHS Forensics team traveled to compete at the State Championship tournament and State Festival. Team members included Kendall Brungardt, Brianna Magana, and Katelynn Hintz at Champs and Sara See and Clara Burchell at Festival.
Champs is set up with 3 preliminary rounds, a semi final round and a final round. Unfortunately, we did not have any competitors who advanced to the semi finals or finals. However, while looking at their ballots, our team received really great comments about how well they did and the points awarded for the quality of their performances were high! 3A state is extremely tough and they really held their own against schools we had never seen before.
At the State Festival, competitors present their selections once and are rated on their individual performance with a 1 being the highest. Sara and Clara both took two events and received 1s on one of their performances and 2s on their second event. This is a great achievement!
We have had a great season and had so much fun with these students! Thanks for your support!
