This is my twentieth year in education and my fourteenth year teaching first grade in Grinnell, KS.  Before coming to Grinnell, I taught third and first grade in Abilene, KS as well as middle school math at Colby Middle School and some classes at Heartland Christian School.  I graduated from Sterling College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree.  I am certified to teach all subjects K-9, having an emphasis in english and physical education.  This includes being highly qualified for Elementary K-9, Mathematics 5-8 and Core Content Mesh K-6.  I received my Master of Education in Teaching and Learning from Friends University in May of 2021.

My favorite part about teaching first grade is that I love teaching kids how to read.  I love building relationships with my students as we explore our world and learn new things about each other and our world daily.

My family brings me so much joy and my main hobby is cheering them on in their many activities.  My daughter Jordyn Mong teaches fourth grade here at Grinnell as well.  I have a step-son, David, who enjoys farming with my husband.  Trey is a sophomore and Jett is a freshman at Colorado State University.  They are both on the football team, so I look forward to going to Fort Collins often to cheer them on.   Daniel is in third grade while I will be teaching Jacelynn this year.  My husband, Travis Theobald, farms in Nebraska.   Along with teaching, I am a doTerra wellness advocate.  I love Jesus, my family, gardening and anything crafty.
